At this year’s CES, Sennheiser will be presenting current and forthcoming solutions designed to capture high-quality audio. The audio specialist will showcase microphones that deliver great sound with greater simplicity – even in the most challenging conditions: Whether taking on the elements in extreme sports or transforming mobile devices into professional recording tools. At its booth (South Hall 1, booth 20606), Sennheiser will showcase the upcoming MKE 2 elements, an ultra-tough new microphone designed for high-quality audio capture with GoPro cameras, the ClipMic digital for professional-quality sound recordings with iOS devices, as well as the forthcoming HandMic digital for mobile devices.
“Today’s digital technologies are making content creation ever more accessible, with mobile devices capable of producing an incredibly high standard of work,” said Achim Gleissner, Commercial Manager for Sennheiser’s Broadcast and Media business. “As this revolution progresses, sound quality cannot be left behind. Indeed, at CES, we want to share the innovative Sennheiser products that take professional quality audio to wherever your creativity takes you.”
At CES, Sennheiser showcases a forthcoming microphone for GoPro cameras. Designed to be the ideal audio partner to a GoPro HERO4 camera in its ultra-tough housing, the audio specialist’s new MKE 2 elements microphone helps adventurous users go further – adding fantastic sound quality to their breathtaking footage. The microphone has been created to go anywhere that a GoPro can, easily withstanding adverse conditions such as wind, water, snow and splashes of mud.
Due to its advanced capsule design, special windshield and watertight connection with the camera housing, the action mic for GoPro HERO4 cameras will even be able to record audio under water. The microphone will allow GoPro users to capture fantastic sound in scenarios where audio recording currently yields poor results – or is not possible at all. The action camera microphone is expected to become available from April 2017.
At the Sennheiser booth, visitors will also get to discover solutions for professional-quality sound recordings with smartphones and tablets. ClipMic digital, the digital clip-on microphone from Sennheiser and Apogee, helps capture sound professionally on iOS devices. The microphone features a Lightning connector to directly connect to iPhone®, iPad® or iPod® touch, thus creating high-quality, ultra-portable solutions for recording speech.
CES will also provide an early view of another forthcoming Sennheiser microphone for capturing high-quality vocal recordings on mobile devices: the HandMic digital. The rugged microphone uses an Apogee A/D converter and pre-amp to translate sound into the digital realm, while maintaining the famed Sennheiser quality and presence. As a mic designed for mobile use, this cardioid dynamic handheld is highly resistant to EMI/cell phone interference and therefore ideal for mobile journalism, podcasting or vocal and instrument recording.
Achim Gleissner explains: “Users are increasingly relying on their mobile devices for recording speech and vocals, but the built-in microphones leave much to be desired. Sennheiser’s HandMic digital is an ideal, easy-to-use tool to upgrade your sound.” The HandMic digital will be available from April 2017.
