The third issue of the Sennheiser iPad app “Blue Stage“ is accompanied by the release of a limited edition microphone: 250 special e 935 vocal microphones signed by the members of Canadian rock band Simple Plan. Each microphone is numbered, has a chrome-plated mic head and features the laser-engraved signatures of Pierre Bouvier (lead vocals), Jeff Stinco (lead guitar), Sébastien Lefebvre (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), David Desrosiers (bass, backing vocals) and Chuck Comeau (drums and percussion).
The current issue of the monthly Sennheiser iPad app is dedicated entirely to the topic of “newcomers“, and the cover story features the rise of Simple Plan. Lead guitarist Jeff Stinco gives tips to bands on how to reach the top. “I would strongly advise new artists to spend less time in front of the mirror, and more time writing songs“, is his advice to newcomers. This edition also introduces young artists at different points in their musical careers. One band on the cusp of international breakthrough is British band The Dirty Youth. In Switzerland, 18-year old singer Andrina has already found success. Chinese pianist A Bu, who at 13 has recorded his first jazz album, is right at the beginning of a promising career. Furthermore, up-and-coming new bands have the chance to win a comprehensive microphone set. To enter the prize draw they simply have to place their instruments correctly in a virtual rehearsal room. Further information can be found at www.sennheiser.com/bluestage. Another edition of the iPad app will come out in mid-April: the “Aviation Issue“ of “Blue Stage” will include fascinating articles on the subject of flight.
The limited edition microphone signed by Simple Plan is available exclusively from online Sennheiser shops in Germany, the UK, Canada and the USA. Included in the delivery are a microphone clamp and a bag. Its balanced frequency range qualifies the e 935 for songs of every genre. It clearly gives the voice more presence and positions it cleanly in front of loud instruments. With a transparent high-end and warm but well defined lower mids, it lends even gentle voices an impressive intensity and size. The vocal track in the band mix can be emphasized much more easily. The e 935 also clearly increases the speech intelligibility. It remains extremely resistant to feedback as well as to the hard conditions of live gigs.
