Diego was born in Valledupar and at a young age he went to live with his family in Villanueva, La Guajira. His father, Glomar Alberto Daza Romero, was a chorus boy for vallenato groups of the time, inherited a taste for music, he is also family of the 'Chiche' and the 'Pangue' Maestre.
